jurisdiction in all cases hereinbefore mentioned in this section and
involving amounts not exceeding two hundred dollars.
(c) Three hundred dollars in certain counties.—In all cases of
the types mentioned in subsection (a) of this section which involve
amounts not exceeding $300.00, trial magistrates of Calvert, Carroll
[and] , Frederick and Garrett counties shall have civil jurisdiction.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.

CHAPTER 168
(House Bill 136)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 70 of
Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1960 Supplement),
title "Crimes and Punishments", sub-title "Cruelty to Animals",
and to add a new Section 70A thereto, to follow immediately after
said Section 70, eliminating Harford County from the present law
relating to the control of female dogs in heat, and enacting a new
section relating thereto.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 70 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1960 Supplement), title "Crimes and Punishments", sub-title
"Cruelty to Animals", be and the same is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, and that a new section 70A be and the
same is hereby added to said Article to follow immediately after
Section 70 thereof, all to read as follows:
70. Allowing female dog in heat to run at large in certain counties.
In Cecil, Dorchester, Howard [Harford] and Wicomico counties,
it shall be unlawful for the owner or custodian of a female dog while
in oestrus or in a condition commonly known as "in heat" or "in
season" to knowingly allow the same to run at large. Every person
violating the provisions of this section shall be deemed guilty of a
misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall be subject to a fine
of not more than twenty-five dollars. Provided further that in Cecil,
Dorchester and Wicomico counties the owner or custodian of said
female dog shall keep said female dog confined during said period
aforementioned.
70A. Allowing female dog in heat to run at large in Harford
County.
In Harford County the owner of any female dog who allows it,
while in oestrus or a condition commonly known as "in heat" or "in
season9', to be out of doors either loose or on a leash, shall be guilty
