RESOLUTIONS

PASSED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY

OF THE

STATE OF MARYLAND,

At an Extra Session held in May, 1813.

No. 1.

MAY SESS.

RESOLVED, That the governor and council be, and they are hereby
requested, forthwith, to send a deputation to Washington, for the pur-
pose of ascertaining what turther protection will be afforded by the gen-
eral government against the incursions of the common enemy, and also
what provision may be expected to liquidate the necessary expenditures
which have been or may be incurred in providing against their aggres-
sions.
No. 2.

1813.

WHEREAS, It appears from the communication of the treasurer of the
Western Shore, that William Marbury, late agent of the State of Mary-
land, has not complied with the resolution of November session eighteen
hundred and twelve, directing the said William Marbury to transfer to
Benjamin Harwood, trustee, all the old six per cent, and deferred, and
three per cent stocks now standing in his name, belonging to the state:
Therefore,
RESOLVED, That Benjamin Harwood, trustee and treasurer of the
state of Maryland, be, and he is hereby authorised again to call upon
the said William Marbury to comply with the said resolution, and upon
his omitting to do so, then he is hereby directed to take such steps,
forthwith, as the attorney general of the state of Maryland may advise,
to compel said William Marbury to transfer to him, the said treasurer
and trustee, all the stock standing in his name the property of the state
of Maryland.
No.3.

Passed May26,
1813.

RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the Western Shore be, and he is
hereby authorised and directed to pay to Hezekiah Carr, late a drum-
mer in the Maryland line, or to his order, a sum of money, in quarterly
payments, equal to the half pay of a drummer during his life.

No. 4.

Passed May
27, 1813.

RESOLVED, That a sum not exceeding one hundred and eighty thou-
sand dollars be appropriated for the purchase of arms, ordnance and mil-
itary stores, under the direction of the governor and council, and to be
paid to the order of the governor, out of any unappropriated money in
the treasury of the Western Shore.
