levied and received shall be deposited by the County Treasurer in a
special fund for that purpose and paid out of that fund by the County
Treasurer on requisition of the County Roads Board. Any unexpended
surplus remaining in the account at the end of any year may be
carried over and used by the County Roads Board in future years to
carry out the purposes of this sub-title or may be used on account of
the costs of next year's roads program. Title to any such land,
buildings, or equipment purchased by the County Commissioners of
Queen Anne's County or by the County Roads Board for Queen
Anne's County shall be and remain in the County Commissioners of
Queen Anne's County, Maryland.

371.    The members of the County Roads Board for Queen Anne's
County shall each receive, in addition to their compensation as County
Commissioners, a salary of Six Hundred Dollars ($600.00) annually
as members of the County Roads Board; and in consideration of the
additional services to be performed by the office of the County
Treasurer of Queen Anne's County, the Deputy Treasurer shall re-
ceive an additional salary of Three Hundred Dollars ($300.00) an-
nually, and the Assistant Deputy Treasurer an additional salary of
Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) annually. The County Roads Board
shall meet on the first Tuesday in July, 1959, and on every alternate
Tuesday thereafter, and as often in addition thereto as the County
Roads Board may deem necessary for the proper performance of their
duties.

372.    (a). The County Roads Board shall within sixty (60) days
after the effective date of the taking over of the construction, re-
construction and maintenance of the County Roads in Queen Anne's
County, appoint some competent person as County Roads Engineer
with the qualifications set out in Article 89B, Section 222 of the An-
notated Code of Public General Laws of Maryland (1957 Edition).
The first term of office of the County Roads Engineer shall run until
June 30, 1963, and succeeding terms thereafter shall run for four (4)
years accounting from the end of the previous term. He shall be
subject to dismissal by the County Roads Board during his term for
proper cause. He shall be under and subject to the authority of the
County Roads Board and shall have charge of making surface plats,
profiles and specifications for the grading, drainage maintenance,
repair and reconstruction of the public roads, bridges, drains, water
courses, public landings, disposal areas, culverts, ferries, curbing and
guttering in the County and also shall do or supervise the doing of
all necessary engineering and other work in connection therewith.
He shall receive such salary and payable in such manner as the
County Roads Board shall determine.

(b). The County Roads Board is hereby authorized and directed
to employ a clerk, deputy clerk and an attorney to said Board and
to fix their annual compensation and the manner of payment. If the
clerk, deputy clerk and/or attorney appointed to the County Roads
Board is the same person or persons as the clerk, deputy clerk and/or
attorney to the County Commissioners, such compensation shall be in
addition to that paid for services to the County Commissioners. The
attorney may also be paid additional fees in the discretion of the
County Roads Board for special services to it.

(c). The County Roads Board is hereby authorized and empowered
to employ such other personnel and to fix their compensation and the
