of elections in Baltimore City.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 11 of Article S3 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1951 Edition), title "Elections", sub-title "Election Officials", be
and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

11. The Board of Supervisors in each county shall give ten days'
notice of the time and place of all elections in each precinct of such
county, by advertisements in two and, in Dorchester County, in
three, newspapers of general circulation published in said county
(one of which newspapers, if possible, shall be of opposite political
faith from that of the majority of the Board of Supervisors), and
in the discretion of the Board, by handbills set up in such public
places in each precinct as the Board may determine. In Baltimore
City such notice shall be given by advertisement in all the daily
newspapers and in one or more semi-weekly newspapers published
in said city and having a circulation of not fewer than 20,000 paid
subscriptions,
which will publish the same at their current rate of
advertising. Except in Baltimore City and in any county now or
hereafter providing for a permanent board of registration, similar
notice shall be given of the time and place of registration and revi-
sions thereof. The said Board in each county and in the City of
Baltimore shall have power to make all necessary rules and regula-
tions, not inconsistent with this Article, with reference to the regis-
tration of voters and the conduct of elections and shall have charge
of and make provision for all elections, general, special, local, munic-
ipal, State and county and for all others of every description to be
held in such county or city, or any part thereof at any time; pro-
vided, however, that in any incorporated city or town in this State
(other than the City of Baltimore) in which the municipal or charter
elections are now regulated by the Public Local Laws of the State,
the conduct of such municipal or charter elections shall continue to
be so regulated as heretofore and such Public Local Laws shall con-
tinue in force therein. Unless otherwise expressly provided in this
Article, all questions arising with reference to such rules and regu-
lations as to the registration of voters and the conduct of elections
shall be decided by a majority of the Board.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.
