exceeding ten years, and to renew such lease from time to time for
an additional term not exceeding ten years, any improvement or con-
cession within recreation centers, community building or other pub-
lic buildings within the jurisdicton of the Commission, whether within
or outside of the parks under the Commission's jurisdiction.]

The purposes for which the Commission is authorized to acquire
lands or other properties, whether by purchase or condemnation, are
enlarged to include the purposes of public recreation or for the con-
struction of public recreation centers, community buildings or other
public buildings necessary to house the public recreation program or
or any part thereof.

[Provided the Vice-Chairman and Park Commissioner shall serve
on a full-time basis, he shall be paid an additional salary of Thirty-
one Hundred Dollars ($3,100) a year, payable monthly, in addition
to the salary as now provided by law. The Vice-Chairman and Park
Commissioner shall advise the Secretary-Treasurer of the Commis-
sion whether he is serving on a full-time or a part-time basis and this
information is subject to review by the Commission. The Vice-Chair-
man and Park Commissioner is authorized to change from part-time
to full-time service or vice versa during his term with the approval of
the Commission.

During the period of study, preparations, public hearings and adop-
tion of the pending enlargements of the general or major highway
plan, the general or major land use plan of the other general or major
plans for that portion of the Maryland-Washington Regional District
located in Montgomery County, the members of the Commission who
are residents of Montgomery County other than the Vice-Chairman
and Park Commissioner shall receive as travel allowance or for
clerical or stenographic assistance or as additional salaries for this
and other additional work, Twelve Hundred Dollars ($1,200) a year,
payable monthly. This authorization may be construed to extend
from June 1, 1945, to a date not beyond June 30, 1947. The salary
of the Secretary-Treasurer of the Commission shall be fixed by the
Commission.

missioner, the]

The Commission may assign living quarters in any house or build-
ing within its jurisdiction to any person or official connected with
the Commission. FOR CARETAKER OR SUPERVISORY ATTEN-
TION RESPECTING THE SAME.

[When the Commission has been notified in writing prior to Decem-
ber 31, 1944 of any injury sustained by any person in any of the
parks, buildings or recreation programs operated by the Commis-
sion, which injuries were incurred without contributory negligence
on the part of the person injured, the Commission is authorized to
pay the actual out-of-pocket medical and hospital expenses caused by
such injuries.

If any work, phrase, clause, sentence or other part or parts of
this section shall be held unconstitutional, such unconstitutionality
shall not affect the validity of the remaining parts of this section or
of all other sections thereof. The General Assembly hereby declares
that it would have passed the remaining parts of this section or any
