RESOLUTIONS.

Dec. Ses. 1822

fourth part of the said judgments in manner ft Mowing, that is to say, the one
third of one fourth part of the principle and all the interest and costs due on such
fourth part, on the first day of October, eighteen hundred and twenty three, the
like sum of principal and all the interest due on the remainder of such fourth
part, on the first day of October, eighteen hundred and twenty four, and the re-
maining part of such fourth part, with all the interest due thereon, on the first
day of October, eighteen hundred and twenty five; and if either of the parties
aforesaid shall neglect to pay the proportion, so us aforesaid directed to be paid
by him, then execution shall and may forthwith issue on the judgment against
the party so neglecting, in the same manner as it this resolution had not passed;
Provided also, that nothing in this resolution contained, shall prevent the state
from recovering any part of the said debt from any of the said parties, if either
of the defendants shall become unable to pay the part or share so as aforesaid
ordered to. be paid by them respectively.

No. 22.
Resolved, That the resolution No. 59, requiring the treasurer of the western
shore to pa)' to Thomas Kearney, auditor of the state, two hundred dollars in
addition to his present salary, be and the same is hereby repealed.

Resolved, That the printer of the laws be, and he is hereby 'required to send
one copy of the laws of each session of the legislature hereafter adopted, to the
Library Company of Baltimore.
No. 2-1.
Resolved, That the trustees of St. Peter's school, be, and they are hereby re-
leased from the payment of interest upon the loan heretofore made to them by
this state.
No. 25.
Resolved, That all proceedings on the part of this state, against John Carter,
security of Basil Bowing, formerly sheriff of 'Prince George's county, be, and
the same are hereby suspended until the first day of March, eighteen hundred
and twenty five; Provided, the said John Carter shall pay one half of the debts
due to the state, from Basil Bowling and John Carter, aforesaid, with six per cent
interest and all the costs, on or before the first day of March, eighteen hundred
and twenty four, and the remaining half of said debts, with interest and any ad-
ditional costs that may accrue on or before the first day of March, eighteen hun-
dred and twenty five; Provided, nothing herein contained shall be construed to
release the right of the state to any property, real or personal, which has been
already taken in execution, or the property of any of the persons aforesaid; and
if the first payment is not punctually made, on or before the time specified, this

No. 26.
Resolved, That the governor and council be requested to transmit the laws of
Maryland, from the year eighteen hundred and nineteen, and from this time
forth, to the chairman of the library committee, on the part of the senate and of
the house of representatives of the congress of the United States.
No. 27.
Resolved, That the executive be directed to receive proposals for distributing
the laws and votes and proceedings of each session, on the western and eastern
shore respectively, and that they contract with such person or persons, as may
offer to do it, on the best terms.

Survey of rout
for canal from
Susquehannah
to Baltimore.

No. 28.
Resolved, That the governor, by and with the advice and consent of the coun-
cil of this state, shall appoint three commissioners, who or a majority of them,
shall be directed to lay out, and survey a route for a canal, which will connect
the waters of the Susquehannah with the city of Baltimore, beginning at the Con-
owago falls, or on a point of said river, which the commissioners may deem the
most practicable, and shall also be directed to lay out and survey a route for a
canal from the same point on the Susquehanna or Conowago falls to the head of
tide water on the Susquehannah, and report upon the practicability, the expense
and other necessary circumstances attending the same, to the next general as-
sembly; and that the governor communicate to the executive of Pennsylvania a
copy of this resolution, with a request that it may be laid before the general as-
sembly of that state. And that the commissioners may be permitted to make
the said survey, as far as it may extend within the limits of Pennsylvania, and
that the said state would unite with Maryland to forward and promote a work of
such Importance to both, by the adoption of a similar resolution.

Resolved, That all proceedings on two judgments obtained against Thomas
Harwood of Benj. formerly collector of Prince George's county, shall be and
hereby are suspended until the first day of October, eighteen hundred and
twenty seven; Provided, That the said Thomas Harwood, of Benj. shall pay to
the treasurer of the western shore, one half of the first judgment obtained against
him with all the interest and costs on or before the first day of October, eigh-
