pass, authorising them jointly to make and execute leases for all or
any part of the estate allotted to the said Maria Murray, in the divi-
sion aforesaid: and this General Assembly believing the facts stated
in the said petition to be true, and the prayer of the petitioners ap-
pearing reasonable; therefore,

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the said William H. Murray and Maria Murray, notwithstanding
the minority of the said Maria, be, and they are hereby jointly autho-
rised and empowered to make and execute leases for any term or
terms of years, renewable or not renewable at their pleasure, with
such covenants and upon such conditions as are most usual in simi-
lar cases, in the city of Baltimore, for any vacant or unimproved
lands or grounds within the limits of the city of Baltimore, which
were allotted and assigned to the said Maria, in the division of the
estate of her late father, James Sterling, deceased, reserving such
rents as may be agreed upon, to be made payable to the said Wil-
liam H. Murray and Maria, his wife, and the heirs and assigns of
the said Maria.

Confirmed.

2. And be it enacted, That all leases made and executed pursuant
to the provisions of this act, shall be as good and available in law as
such leases could or would be if the said Maria were of the age of
twenty-one years, at the time of executing the same, any law to the
contrary notwithstanding.

CHAPTER 195.

An act for the relief of Ann Jeffers, of Queen Ann's county.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the levy
court of Queen Ann's county, be, and they are hereby authorised and
required, at their next levy, and annually thereafter, so long as they
may see cause therefor, to levy on the assessable property of said
county, the sum of twenty-five dollars, for the use of Ann Jeffers, of
said county: which sum shall be collected and paid over to the said
Ann Jeffers, or her order, in the same manner as other count)- charg-
es are collected and paid.

CHAPTER 196.

An act to incorporate a society in the city of Baltimore, by the name of
''The second Franklin beneficial society of Mary laud, established at
Baltimore. "
WHEREAS it is the duty of society in general to afford assistance
to those of its members who may be incapacitated, by sickness or
other casualties, from supporting themselves and their families; and
whereas William F. Read, William Hall and others, duly consider-
ing this obligation and the greater liability of particular persons to
become objects of such charity, and more particularly to prevent
themselves from experiencing such misfortune, have formed them-
selves into a society under the name of the "Second Franklin bene-
ficial Society of Maryland established at Baltimore" for the purpose
of assisting each other when sickness or other misfortunes may occur
to themselves or their families, and have petitioned the General As-
sembly of Maryland for an act of incorporation; therefore,

Incorporation

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the abovementioned William F. Read, William Hall and others,
members of the said society, and all those who, at any time hereaf-
ter, "according to the constitution and by-laws of said society, " shall
become members thereof, be, and they are hereby created and made
