CHAPTER 179.

An act to incorporate the trustees of the Public School in Middle town,
in Frederick county.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
Lewis Creager, Michael Motter, Thomas Powell, Jacob Alexander,
and Christian Lifford, be, and they are hereby declared to be a body
politic and corporate, by the name, style, and title of the visitors of
the Middle town school, and by the same name shall have perpetual
succession, and when any vacancy or vacancies shall happen in said
board of visitors, by death, resignation, removal or any other disqual-
ification of any of the visitors of said school, the surviving and re-
maining visitors of said school, or a majority of them, shall proceed
to fill up said vacancy or vacancies so as to perpetuate the number of
five visitors to said school forever, and shall be able to sue and be
sued, and shall have all and singular the power and authority which
similar corporations possess, and are necessary to carry into effect
the intention of this law, not being repugnant to the laws of this
state.

Incorporation

2. And be it enacted, That the lot of ground heretofore purchased
by some of the citizens of Middletown, and on which they have
erected a school house, and its appurtenances be, and the same is
hereby vested in the visitors aforesaid, and their successors forever,
for the use and benefit of said school, and to and for no other use
and benefit whatever; Provided the present trustees of said school
consent to the same.

3. And be it enacted, That all acts or deeds of the said corpora-
tion, shall be signed by the visitors aforesaid, or a majority of them
in behalf of the corporation, and sealed with their corporate seal,
and all acts or deeds of said corporation so authenticated, shall be
good and valid in law, and the said corporation shall have full power
and authority to sell or exchange the said lot of ground or any part
thereof, and shall be capable of purchasing and holding real and per-
sonal property not exceeding in value two thousand dollars for the
use and benefit of said school.

CHAPTER 180.

An act for the relief of sundry poor persons of Prince George's and
Anne Arundel counties, and the city of Annapolis.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the justices of the levy court of Prince Georges county be, & they are
hereby authorised and empowered at their levy courts annually, so
long as they shall see cause, to assess and levy on the assessable pro-
perty of the said county, a sum of money not exceeding twenty dol-
lars for the support of Charles Waters; twenty dollars for the sup-
port of Benjamin Williams; twenty dollars for the support of Ann
Cross; twenty dollars for the support of Esther Ivington; twenty
dollars for the support of John Stewart; twenty dollars for the sup-
port of Chloe Lanham twenty dollars for the support of Joanna
Rittee; and twenty dollars for the support of Ann Williams; and that
the same be collected annually by the collector of Prince Georges
county, and by him paid to the said persons respectively, or to their
several orders.
