1852.

SEC. 12. And be it enacted, That any person con-
nected with any telegraph company in this State, either
as clerk, operator, messenger, or in any other capacity,

who shall wilfully divulge the contents, or the nature of
the contents of any private communication entrusted
to him for transmission or delivery, or who shall wilfully
refuse or neglect to transmit or deliver the same, shall,
on conviction before any court, he adjudged guilty of a
misdemeanor, and shall suffer imprisonment in the
county jail, in the county or city, where such convic-
tion shall be had, for a term of not more than three
months, or shall pay a fine not to exceed five hundred
dollars in the discretion of the court.

CHAP. 369.

Private com-
munications.

SEC. 13. And be it enacted, That the directors or trus-
tees of any telegraph company, formed or incorporated
under this act, may, at any lime, with the written consent

of the persons owning two-thirds of the capital stock of
such company, extend their line of telegraph, or may
construct branch lines to connect with their main line,
or may unite with any other incorporated telegraph
company, with such capital stock and upon such terms
as may he agreed upon.

Extension of
line.

SEC. 14. And be it enacted, That nothing herein
contained shall be so construed as to authorise the issue

of any note, token, device, or other evidence of debt,
to be used as currency.

SEC. 15. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from and after the passage thereof.
