(House Bill 233)
AN ACT to add a new section to the Code of Public Local
Laws of Prince George's County (1947 Edition), being
Article 17 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land, title "Prince George's County", sub-title "Upper
Marlboro", said new section to be known as Section
1393½ and to follow immediately after Section 1393 of
said Code, providing for a printed ballot, certificate of
candidacy and a petition affecting a certificate of candi-
dacy under existing election laws of said town and pro-
viding for a referendum thereon.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a new section be and it is hereby added to
the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince George's County
(1947 Edition), being Article 17 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland, title "Prince George's County",
sub-title "Upper Marlboro", said new section to be known
as Section 1393½ and to follow immediately after Section
1393 of said Code, and to read as follows:
1393½. The Town Commissioners of Upper Marlboro
shall provide a printed ballot to be used at all the elections
held under the provisions of this sub-title on which ballot
shall be printed the name of every person who at least ten
days prior to any election shall have filed with the Clerk
to the Town Commissioners his certificate of candidacy,
or the name of any person certified for candidacy upon a
petition of ten or more qualified voters of said town also
filed ten days prior to such election; said ballot also to have
suitable provision and space to permit the voter to write
in the names of additional persons.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
not become effective until it shall have been submitted to
the qualified voters of the Town of Upper Marlboro, in
Prince George's County, at the next regular municipal
election, or at a special election to be held on such date
as shall be determined by the Town Commissioners of said
