SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 244 of Article 9 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Charles County, "
sub-title "Sheriff, " as said section was amended by Chapter
873 of the Acts of 1943, be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
244. The said sheriff of Charles County shall receive for
the [keeping] maintenance of prisoners committed to his
custody [, and for their victuals and support, the sum of
sixty cents] in the County Jail a sum not to exceed $1. 00 per
head per day, and the County Commissioners shall in no
case allow a greater compensation.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1951.

(Senate Bill 272)
AN ACT to repeal Chapter 32 of the Laws of Maryland
passed at the Extraordinary Session of the General
Assembly in 1947, and to enact in lieu thereof four new
sections to Article 19 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "St. Mary's County",
to be under sub-title "Licenses, " said new sections to be
known as Sections 93A to 93D and to follow immedi-
ately after Section 93 of said Article, removing from
the operation of Sections 288 to 307, inclusive, of Article
27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition),
title "Crimes and Punishment, " sub-title "Gaming, " the
operation of certain coin operated gambling machines
in St. Mary's County, and relating to the legalizing,
licensing and regulating the operation of coin operated
mechanical or electrical amusement and/or gambling
devices or machines, and the distribution thereof in St.
Mary's County, and providing for the distribution of
funds derived from such licensing.
