"Baltimore County, " said new section to be known as
Section 354A, to follow immediately after Section 354
thereof, to be included within "Title 23, Public Works"
and under the sub-heading "Sewer and Water, " authoriz-
ing certain veterans of the Armed Forces to extinguish
front foot assessment or benefit charges for water or
sewer service after the normal one year period for such
extinguishment.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new section be and it is hereby added to the Code
of Public Local Laws of Baltimore County (1948 Edition,
being Article 3 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land), title "Baltimore County, " said new section to be
known as Section 354A, to follow immediately after Sec-
tion 354 thereof, to be included within "Title 23, Public
Works" and under the sub-heading "Sewer and Water, "
and to read as follows:

354A. Any property owner who became or becomes a
member of the Armed Forces of the United States within
less than one year following the levy of a front foot as-
sessment and benefit charge upon his property, shall have
a further opportunity to exercise the option provided for
in Section 354 above, to extinguish the same by a payment
in cash, during the period from June 1, 1951, to December
31, 1951, or thereafter during the six months' period fol-
lowing his discharge from such Armed Forces. In the ex-
ercise of any such further option, no interest shall be
charged the said property owner, except interest at the
rate of six per cent per annum for one year; and if the
said property owner shall have paid any annual payments
on the property in question, as required hereinabove, the
aggregate amount of all such annual payments on this
particular property shall be deducted from the sum due
from the property owner for the extinguishment of the said
front foot assessment or benefit charge; provided, however,
that if the said amounts to be deducted shall exceed the
sum ordinarily due from the property owner for the ex-
tinguishment of the front foot assessment or benefit charge,
the said extinguishment shall be effected without any pay-
ment by either party to the other.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1951.
