An act authorising Charles Carroll, of Anne Arundel
County, to bring into this State certain Negro
Slaves for life.

WHEREAS, Charles Carroll, of Anne Arundel coun-
ty, in the month of December, eighteen hundred and
thirty-six, sent from this State to Louisiana, fifty-one
of his negro slaves for life, for the purpose of making
a temporary use of their labor there; and he hath now
made application to this General Assembly, for leave
to remove said servants into this State: — Therefore,

Preamble.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That it shall and may be lawful for the said Charles
Carroll, of Anne Arundel county, to remove back into
this State, such of the servants, slaves for life, so sent
by him into Louisiana as are now alive, and their is-
sue, if any, born since the month of December eighteen
hundred and thirty six, provided he shall comply with
the last proviso in the fourth section of the act of As-
sembly, passed December session eighteen hundred and
thirty-one, chapter three hundred and twenty-three,
and also with the requisitions of the act passed at
December session eighteen hundred and thirty-three,
chapter eighty-seven.
