BANKS—The president and other proper officers of, and

   

all incorporated institutions, semi-annually to

   

set apart and withhold out of the dividends

   

or profits, when d i vidends are not declared on

   

their stock amonnt of tax levied on the

   

stocks under the act of March session 1841,

   

chap. 23, and supplements, without refer-

   

ence to place of residence of stockhold-

   

ers, and to pay said tax to the treasurer of

   

state, who shall give receipts for the same.

Register of the city of Baltimore semi-an-

   

nually to set apart and pay over to the treasu-

   

rer out of the interest on the stock of the

   

city of Baltimore, amount of tax levied as

   

above, &c.

Levy courts, &c. to deduct on 1st June

   

from amount of assessment of property in

   

the several counties, &c. so far as relates to

   

the taxes imposed for the use of the State

   

the assessed value of the aforesaid stocks

   

and thereafter accounts for taxes due the

   

shall not include the tax upon the aforesaid

   

stocks.
