(Senate Bill 107)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
59B of Article 48 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1947 Supplement), title "Inspections," sub-title "To-
bacco," transferring authority to supervise weighing
devices in tobacco warehouses from the Bureau of
Mines to the Commissioner of Labor and Industry.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 59B of Article 48 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "Inspections," sub-
title "Tobacco," be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
59B. The proprietor or manager of every warehouse
holding tobacco for sale shall have proper weights,
measures, weighing devices, and measuring devices, and
shall see that all such weights, measures, weighing de-
vices, and measuring devices conform to the lawful stand-
ard and are kept in proper repair. All such weights,
measures, weighing devices and measuring devices shall
be inspected periodically by the State Superintendent of
Weights and Measures or by the [Bureau of Mines]
Commissioner of Labor and Industry and if found to be
accurate and in good condition, said State Superintendent
of Weights and Measures or [Bureau of Mines] Commis-
sioner of Labor and Industry shall make proper certifica-
tion thereto.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1950.
