project) may be begun on a county road or street or within
the boundaries of a dedication to the public use, the appli-
cant for a permit to undertake any such project shall pay to
the County Engineer four per cent (4%) of the estimated cost
of such project as determined by the County Engineer, as an
inspection and engineering fee.
(b) Where any such project is entirely a grading project,
the applicant shall pay ten per cent (10%) of the estimated
cost of such project as determined by the County Engineer,
to the County Engineer as an inspection and engineering fee
when the office of the County Engineer does the engineering
work on said project, and two per cent (2%) when the appli-
cant for said permit furnishes said engineering work.
(c) Any person who violates any provision of this Section
shall, upon conviction, be fined not more than $1, 000, or
imprisoned for not more than one year, or both, for each
offense.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1941.

(House Bill 884)
AN ACT to add a new section to Article 56 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Licenses", sub-title
"Rules of the Road", said new section to be known as Sec-
tion 235A, to follow immediately after Section 235 of saidx
Article, relating to the designation and marking of certain
streets and roads in Montgomery County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article
56 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title
"Licenses", sub-title "Rules of the Road", said new section to
be known as Section 235A to follow immediately after Section
235 of said Article, and to read as follows:
235A. Within the limits of the Suburban District of Mont-
gomery County, the Board of County Commissioners of said
County is hereby authorized to erect stop signs and other
traffic signals of a similar nature on all streets and roads
other than on highways under the direct jurisdiction of the
State Roads Commission, and to prescribed by ordinance the
