SENATE JOURNAL

SPECIAL SESSION

ANNAPOLIS, MD., Friday, December 27, 1946.
STATE OF MARYLAND, TO WIT:

Friday, the twenty-seventh day of December in the year nineteen
hundred and forty-six, at 11.00 o'clock A. M., being the day ap-
pointed by the Proclamation of the Governor of Maryland for the
meeting of the General Assembly of Maryland in Special Session,
the Senate was called to order by the Secretary of the Senate.

The following Senators answered to their names:

Altfeld Cronin Gonder Marvel Warfield

Bauer Davis Hampton Myers Waller

Bennett Della Hughes Newsome Wilmer

Byrnes Dulin Johnson Shipley

Campbell Funk Lindsay Sothoron

Carter George

Total—25

Twenty-five Senators having answered to their names, and a
quorum being present, the Senate of Maryland Special Session of
December 27th, 1946, is now ready for the transaction of business.

Prayer was offered by the Rev. Charles E. Berger.

The first order of business will be the election of a temporary
presiding officer. Are you ready for the question ?

The Hon. Joseph E. Byrnes, duly seconded, nominated the Hon.
J. Wilmer Cronin. There being no other nominations, the Hon.
J. Wilmer Cronin was unanimously elected. The Senators from
Frederick County and the Senator from Caroline County were
appointed to escort the President pro-tem to the Chair.

The President pro-tem delivered a short address.

The next order of business was the election of a permanent
Presiding Officer.
