ner as hereinbefore provided, and if a majority of the votes
cast upon said question shall be "For a special assessment of
not to exceed 10 cents on each $100. 00 of real and personal
property to be paid to the Mount Rainier Volunteer Fire De-
partment for its exclusive use in the maintenance, operation,
care and purchase of equipment, " then this Act shall be in
full force and effect; but if a majority of the votes cast upon
said question shall be "Against a special assessment of not to
exceed 10 cents on each $100. 00 of real and personal property
to be paid to the Mount Rainier Volunteer Fire Department
for its exclusive use in the maintenance, operation, care and
purchase of equipment, " then this Act shall be void and of
no effect.
SEC. 4. And be it further enacted. That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the imme-
diate preservation of the public health and safety, and being
passed upon a yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths of all
the members elected to each of the two houses of the General
Assembly, the same shall take effect from the date of its
passage.

CHAPTER 140.
AN ACT to extend the limits of the town of Cottage City,
a municipal corporation, by including therein a part of
Prince George's County contiguous thereto, and for other
purposes.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That there is hereby annexed to the territory of
the town of Cottage City all the adjacent and contiguous terri-
tory in Prince George's County described as follows:
Beginning for the same at the easterly right of way of the
Baltimore and Ohio Railroad where it intersects Bunker Hill
Road (said place of beginning being also the point where the
easterly line of Central Avenue, if extended, would intersect
the said easterly right of way of the Baltimore and Ohio
Railroad), thence running along the easterly right of way
of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad in a northerly direction
