CHAP. XXXVII.

1809.

An ACT empowering the Trustees of the Poor of Harford County
to sell and convey certain Property therein mentioned.

WHEREAS the trustees of the poor for Harford county have represented to this general assem-
bly, by their petition, that many and great inconveniencies and expense result to the county
in consequence of the present ineligible situation of the alms-house, and praying that they may be
authorised to sell the same, and purchase another; therefore,

II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the trustees of the poor for Harford
county be and they are hereby authorised and empowered to sell and convey, in fee-simple, all and
every part of the land heretofore conveyed to the trustees aforesaid, in their corporate capacity, to-
gether with all the appertenances thereunto belonging, and to purchase in the said county a well
timbered tract of land tor the accommodation of the poor of said county, and to receive a convey-
ance for the same, to them, and their successors, by the name, style and title, of The Trustees of
the Poor of Harford County.

III. PROVIDED ALWAYS, NEVERTHELESS, AND BE IT ENACTED, That the trustees of the poor of
the said county shall not sell and convey the aforesaid property for a less sum than the said lands
and tenements, and appertenances thereunto belonging, shall be appraised to.

IV. AND BE IT ENACTED, That John Moores, Thomas A. Hays and Parker Hall Lee, are hereby
appointed to value and appraise the said land and appertenances thereunto belonging, who shall, on
or before the first day of April, one thousand eight hundred and ten, proceed to appraise and value
the same, but before they proceed to value, they shall respectively take the following oath before
some justice of the peace for said county, to wit: " I, A. B. do solemnly and sincerely swear, or
" affirm, as the case may be, in the presence of Almighty God, that 1 will proceed to value and ap-,
" praise the land and real estate belonging to the alms-house of Harford county, and that I will value
" the same to such a sum as 1 in my judgment shall think it to be worth; so help me God; " and that
after the aforesaid appraisers have valued the same, the trustees shall proceed to sell the said land
for such a sum as they can procure for the same, but in no case to sell the same under the sum to
which it may be valued.

V. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said trustees be and they are hereby authorised and empow-
ered to sell and convey to Joseph Robinson, his heirs and assigns, for ever, such portion of the said
land belonging to the county as they exchanged with the said Joseph Robinson, and that they be au-
thorised to receive a conveyance to them, and their successors, from the said Robinson, for such
part or portion of land as was given in exchange by said Robinson to them.

CHAP. XXXVIII.

Passed 6th of
Jan. 1810.

An ACT to alter and abolish all that part of the Constitution which
permits certain Citizens of Annapolis to vote for Delegates for
Anne-Arundel County.

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That no person residing in the city of An-
napolis shall have a vote in the county of Anne-Arundel for delegates for the said county, and
all and every part of the constitution which enables persons holding fifty acres of land to vote in
said county, be and is hereby abolished; provided nevertheless, that if this act shall be confirmed by
the general assembly, after the next election of delegates, in the first session after such new election,
according to the constitution and form of government, that in such case this alteration and amend-
ment of the constitution and form of government, shall constitute and be valid as part thereof, and
every thing therein contained repugnant to, or inconsistent with, this alteration and amendment,
shall be repealed and abolished.

CHAP. XXXIX.

An ACT for the support of Matthew Bradburn, of Montgomery
County.

WHEREAS Matthew Bradburn, of Montgomery county, by his petition to this general assem-
bly, hath set forth, that he has for seven or eight years been severely afflicted with the rheu-
matism in such a degree that he has been rendered incapable of procuring a livelihood by hard labour;
