    Att a Court held for Kent County in the Province of Maryl.d
at the Court house in the Town of Chester in said County on the
twentieth day of August & Continued the twenty first twenty
second and twenty third days of the same month in the thirteen
year of the Dominion of Charles Absolute Lord and prop.ry of this
Province of Maryland and Avalon Lord Barron of Baltimore
&c.a Annoq. Dom.n 1728

Tench Francis Gent. Attorney of the
Right Honourable the Lord prop.ry that
now is for the County afd who for the
Same Lord prop.ry in this part prosecuteth doth come here into
Kent County Court before Lambert Wilmer Esq.r his Associates
the said Lordships Justices of the same County Court to wit at
Chester Town in the afd County the eighteenth day of June Anno
Dom Seventeen hundred twenty & eight And for the same
Lord prop.ry doth give the Court here to Understand & be
Informed that Jane Kennard wife of Nathaniel Kennard
of the same County planter the first day of June Anno Dom. Seventeen
hundred twenty and eight at Saint pauls parish in the County
afd within the Jurisdiction of this Court in and upon a Certain
Mary Codd Wife of S.t Leger Codd Esq.r in the peace of God & of the
said Lord prop.ry then & there being with force and Arms and
Also it did make and her the said Mary then and there
did beat wound and Evilly treat so that of her life it was
much Dispaired and other harms to her then & there did to
his great Damage of the said Mary & against the peace
of the said Lord prop.ry that now is the good rule & Dignity
whom before the afd Attorney prayeth the Advise of the Court
