Mr. Kuhn, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, A further additional supplement to
an act, entitled, An act to establish a market in Frederick-town, in Frederick county, and for the regulation
of the said market; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

A memorial from sundry inhabitants of the city of Baltimore, counter to the petition for the extension of
the Falls turnpike, was read and ordered to lie on the table.

The clerk of the senate delivers the bill authorising the laying out a road in Worcester county from Mitch-
ell's causeway, to intersect the Soccom road leading to Broad creek, endorsed, " will pass. " Ordered to be en-
grossed. And the resolution relative to the Easton academy, endorsed, " assented to. "

A petition from sundry inhabitants of Bladensburgh, praying that a law may pass authorising the executor of
Robert Dick to pay a sum of money, deposited in the hands of the said Dick, to some person or persons, who
shall be authorised to appropriate and lay out said money, to the best of his or their judgment, in the removal
of bars, shoals, or other obstructions in the waters of the Eastern Branch, nearest to the town of Bladensburgh,
was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Van-Horn, Mr. Hall and Mr. Callis, to consider and report thereon.

On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, An act to establish a tribunal for the administration of
justice in chancery cases on the eastern shore, and to repeal such parts of the constitution and form of govern-
ment as are incompatible therewith. " ORDERED, That Mr. Lloyd, Mr. Shaaff, Mr. Scott, Mr. Hyland and Mr.
Dickinson, be a committee to prepare and bring in the same.

On motion, the question was put, That the second reading of the bill for the encouragement of learning in
this state, and for other purposes, which was made the order of this day, be postponed until to-morrow? Re-
solved in the affirmative.

A petition from Anne Clarke, Henry Lowe Hall and Francis Hall, of Prince-George's county, praying a law
may pass directing the sale of a parcel of land which was devised by Benjamin Hall, Esq; to his grand-children,
was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Hall, Mr. Van-Horn and Mr. Shaaff, to consider and report thereon.

A petition from William Sentee, of Harford county, praying that a law may pass changing his name, and
that of his wife and children, from Sentee to Carlen, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Montgomery,
Mr. Ayres And Mr. Street, to consider and report thereon.

A petition from Marsham Parker, of Calvert county, praying some compensation for a negro man formerly
the property of his father, which negro was sentenced to be hanged by Prince-George's county court, was pre-
ferred, read, and referred to Mr. Somervell, Mr. Van-Horn and Mr. B. Mackall, to consider and report thereon.

ORDERED, That the bill to alter the time of the meeting of the general assembly of this state, and for other
purposes, have a second reading on Tuesday the 31st instant.

The report on the petition of Charles Gardiner was read the second time and the resolution therein con-
tained assented to.

On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, An act to authorise any two justices of the peace in this
state to qualify the coroners of their respective counties. ORDERED, That Mr. Lloyd, Mr. Chapman and Mr.
Denny, be a committee to prepare and bring in the. same.

ORDERED, That the report on the petition of Patrick Murdock be recommitted for amendment.

A petition from Elizabeth Sower, of the city of Baltimore, praying that a divorce obtained by her in the
state of Vermont from her husband, Samuel Sower, maybe confirmed, and her name changed from Sower to
Lammot, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Stephen, Mr. Harryman and Mr. Lemmon, to consider and
report thereon.

Mr. Montgomery, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act for the relief of Ri-
chard Gittings and Lambert Smith, of Baltimore county, insolvent debtors; which was read the first time and
ordered to lie on the table.

A petition from sundry inhabitants of Baltimore and Harford counties and of the state of Pennsylvania,
praying a road may be opened to pass from the Maryland line, where David Wiley lives, to Towson's tavern,
where it would intersect the York turnpike road, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Ayres, Mr. Mont-
