Kent County fs.t The Jurors for the Right Hon.ble the Lord prop.ry that now is
for Kent County afd upon their oath Do present that Margaret English
late of S.t pauls parish in the County afd Spinster the Servant woman
of Edward Worrel the first Day of July Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred
and twenty four at the parish afd in the County afd within
the Jurisdiction of this Court Did Comit fornication with a Certain
negroe person to y.e Jurors afd unknown and Did permit the same
unknown person then and there to have Carnal knowledge of her
Body and to beget then and there a bastard Mullatto Child on y.e
body of her the Same Margaret English to the high Displeasure of
almighty God to the Evill Example of all others in Such Case
offending Contrary to the peace of the s.d Lord prop.ry that now is his good
rule and Government and against the form of the Act of Assembly
in Such Case made & provided &c.a M Howard Cler. pac.

    On the back of y.e preeding Indictment was Endorst as foll.s viz.t
        A True Bill by Thomas Piner foreman

    And the afd Margaret English in her proper person Comes & Saith that
She Cannot gainsay the Indictment afd so as afd against her brought
nor but that She is Guilty of the premisses above upon her Imposed
us by the Indictment afd it is alledged and thereupon Submits to the
Courts  Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here to wit at y.e Court
house in the Town of Chester in s.d County this fifteenth Day of
June Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and twenty five that the afd
Margaret English be a Servant and Serve for the Space and term of
Seven years as a punishment for her afd Crime of haveing a bastard
Child by a Negroe in form afd Confest according to the form of the Act
of Assembly in that Case lately made and provided also it is Considered
by the afd Justices here that the said Margaret pay the Sume of
