309 Kent County fs.t Memorandum that Tench Francis Gent Attorney of the Right Honourable the Lord prop.ry that now is for the County afd who for the Same Lord prop.ry in this part prosecuteth Doth Come here into Kent County Court before Lambert Wilmer Esq.r and his Associates his s.d Lordships Justices of the Same County Court to wit at Chester Town in the County afd the twentieth Day of June Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred twenty and Seven and for the Same Lord prop.ry Doth give the Court here to understand and be Informed that William Blackiston of S.t Pauls Parish in Kent County afd Labourer the tenth Day of November Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred twenty & Six at the parish afd in the County afd within the Jurisdiction of this Court Did Commit fornication with a Certain Martha Jarvis and then and there Did Beget a Bastard Child on the Body of Martha to the high Displeasure of Almighty God to y.e Evill Example of all others in Such Case offending Contrary to the peace of the s.d Lord prop.ry his good Rule and Government and against the form of the Act of Assembly in Such Cases made and provided wherefore the afd Attorney prayeth the advice of the Court here in the premisses for the s.d Lord prop.ry and Due process of Law against the afd W.m in this part to Issue to answer the afd Lord prop.ry of and upon the premisses &c.a Test. Martha Jarvis Tench francis Cler. pacis And the afd William Blackiston in his proper person Comes & Saith that he Cannot gainsay the Information afd so as afd against nor but that he is guilty of the premisses above upon him Imposed as by the afd Information it is alledged and thereupon Submitts to the Court Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here to wit at the Court house in the Town of Chester in Kent County this fifteenth Day of August Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and twenty Seven that y.e s.d William Blackiston pay the Sume of thirty Shillings Current money of Maryland as a fine for his afd offence of Committing fornication in form afd Confest also it is Considered that y.e s.d W.m Blackiston pay the Sume of three hundred and Six pounds of Tobacco Costs Accrueing on the premisses afd to the officers of this Court Jam.s Smith Clk Ordered by the Court here that the Sher of Kent County keep the afd William Blackiston in Safe Custody untill he Shall Satisfie y.e fees in the Judgment afd Specified |
