Somerset fst. Whereas Milcha Acworth is this day Charged before me ye. Subscriber
{seal} One of his Lordships Justices of ye. peace for Somerset County having had
a Bastard Child Lately Born of her Body
These are therefore in his Lordships name to Command you to take the
Body of ye. afd. Milcha Acworth and Cause her to appear before me other of
his Lordships Justices of ye. peace for ye. County afd. to answer the Charge
afd. and this shall be your warrant given under my hand & Seal this
1st. day of March Anno Dom. 1760 Ephraim King
To ye. Constable of Nanticoke Hundred to Execute & return
Whereupon ye. aforesaid Geo: Brown Constable of Nanticoke Hundred aforesaid
afterwards, to wit, ye. tenth day of April in ye. year aforesaid at ye. County afd. returned
to me that he had taken ye. Body of ye. afd. Milcha Acworth and had her there
Ready to answer ye. Charge afd. against her made Thereupon ye. said Milcha
Acworth being by me Asked wheather She of ye. Charge afd. was guilty said
that She could not deny but that she was thereof guilty and made Oath that
A Certain Joseph Lawhead was ye. Father of her Bastard Child Thereupon
ye. Said Milcha Acworth for her offence afd. was by me fined ye. Sum of thirty
Shillings Current money of Maryland which she said she could not pay down
but was willing to give Security agreeable to Act of Assembly in Such Case
made and provided Thereupon ye. afd. Milcha Acworth together with A Certain Charles
Acworth her Security did acknowledge themselves and Each of them to owe and be
Indebted unto his Lordship ye. right Honble. ye. Lord propry in ye. Sum of three
pounds Current money afd. of their and Each of their Bodies goods & Chattles Land &c
Tenements to for the use of ye. said Lord Propry to be made & Levied in Case
ye. said Milcha Acworth do not pay and Satisfie unto his Lordships Justices
of ye. peace for ye. County afd. ye. Sum of thirty Shillings Current money as aforesaid
on or before the tenth day of April 1761 next Ensuing ye. date hereof
Taken and Acknowledged the 10 Day of Aprill in ye. year afd.
