missioners of the said town of Vienna to the person or per-
sons entitled thereto.

CHAP. 13.
|

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That the above named commis-
sioners or a majority of them, before they proceed to carry
info effect the provisions of this act: shall take an oath be-
fore some justice of the peace in and for said county, faith-
fully and truly to value and assess said damages, to the best
of their judgement.

Sec 5 And be it further enacted, That any person or
persons whatsoever, who may think himself herself or them-
selves aggrieved by the decision of said commissioners:
such person or persons may by petition appeal to the next
county court of Dorchester county and the judges thereof
are hereby authorised to examine and correct any judgment
or decision made by said commissioners, and the appellant
shall be entitled to a trial by jury; provided he, she or they,
shall demand the same.

An act prohibiting Justices of the Peace from exercising their
civil duties in bar rooms of taverns, or other public houses
of that character, so far as relates to Baltimore county.

Section I. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That from and after the first day of May next, any
|

justice or justices of the peace in and for said county, who
shall be found engaged in the discharge of his or their du-
ties as justice or justices of the peace in civil matters in a
bar room of a tavern or public house of that character,
upon satisfactory information given within six months after
the violation of this act to the grand jury of said county it
shall be the duty of said grand jury to report the fact to the

State's attorney or his deputy, who shall proceed and recov-
er from the offender or offenders against this act, the sum of
twenty dollars with cost for each and every offence one half
of the fine to be paid to the informant and the other half to
be paid over to the treasurer of Baltimore county for the
use of said county.
