82 ~  George Layfield, Esq., Pltf.  vs. Michael Turbut & James Murphey, Admns of Vincent Low (Loe) Deft. for £16/10; Sam Worthington, attorney for Layfield, explains that Low had illegally obtained Letter of Administration for estate of Samuel Cooper, which properly should have gone to Cooper’s widow Jane; Low had then agreed to forgive debt of  9000lbs/tbco which Layfield owed to Cooper, in consideration of £16/10 received from William Blanton of  St. Maries, per direction of Layfield; Low never credited the estate and when Provincial Court appointed Jane Cooper Admx she required Layfield to pay original debt; Sheriff’s writ returned non est inventus, Court rules for Layfield; orders attachment of Low’s goods; Layfield post bond of £33 for the attachment; security Ephraim Wilson.
