John King. 78 ~ Writ of error from John Freeman, Register of Chancery Court, dated 19 October 1695 entered in record; per plea of EphraimWilson, Chancery directs Justices to send records of proceedings in case of Francis Jenckins vs. Ephraim Wilson to Provicial Court for review. 78 ~ Writ of error from John Freeman, Register of Chancery Court, dated 19 October 1695 entered in record; per plea of Ephraim Wilson, Chancery directs Justices to send records of proceedings in case of James Round vs. Ephraim Wilson to Provicial Court for review. 78 ~ Court orders transcripts of preceeding two cases be transmitted to Provincial Court; John West, Clerk of Court, reports after inspection of records that no such cases have been entered; note is made that Thomas Dixon acted as President of Court when Writs of Error were considered. 79 ~ Case against Edward McDonnell for pocket picking; evidence of William Damone(?), John Bishopp and William Stevenson heard; Court finds Macdonnell guilty, orders Sheriff give him 39 lashes; administered forthwith; also required to post security; makes bond for £5, securities William Stevenson, Thomas Quillain. 79 ~ Court adjourns briefly and reconvenes; Commissioners present: Francis Jenckins, Thomas Dixon, George Layfield, Samuel Hopkins, Edmund Howard, John King. 79 ~ Mr. Thomas Jones presents account against estate of Andrew Whittington for 312 lbs/tbco; William Fausett, Administrator, admits debt; Court orders payment, with costs. 80 ~ Rowland Jackson, Pltf. vs. John Tayler, Deft. for debt of 400 lbs/tbco; Sam Worthington, attorney for Jackson, presents Tayler’s account from 2 June1694; mentions credit given to William Bozeman; Sheriff’s writ returned non est inventus; Court orders attachment of Tayler’s goods; Worthington has debt of 1000 lbs/tbco to Tayler and posts security for him. 80 ~ Anthony Morris, wife Martha, Pltf., Admx of Joseph Light, vs. James Jones of Virginia, Deft. for debt of 2000 lbs/tbco; Peter Dent, attorney for plaintiffs, presents bill of debt signed 26 May 1695 by Jones to be paid by October in Pocomoke; witnesses James Mills, John Simons; Sheriff’s writ returned non est inventus; Court rules for plaintiffs; orders attachment of Jones’ goods; Morris makes bond for 4000 lbs/tbco for the attachment; security Francis Joyce. 81 ~ Peter Dent, Pltf. vs. Dinah Nuthead of St. Maries County, Admx of William Nuthead, Deft. for debt of 500 lbs/tbco; Dent claims debt contracted for 50 lbs of sugar given Nuthead on 30 May 1693 at Pocomoke; Sheriff’s writ returned non est inventus, Court rules for Dent; orders attachment of goods; Dent posts bond of 1000 lbs/tbco for the attachment; security Ephraim Wilson. 82 ~ George Layfield, Esq., Pltf. vs. Michael Turbut & James Murphey, Admns of Vincent Low (Loe) Deft. for £16/10; Sam Worthington, attorney for Layfield, explains that Low had illegally obtained Letter of Administration for estate of Samuel Cooper, which properly should have gone to Cooper’s widow Jane; Low had then agreed to forgive debt of 9000lbs/tbco which Layfield owed to Cooper, in consideration of £16/10 received from William Blanton of St. Maries, per direction of Layfield; Low never credited the estate and when Provincial Court appointed Jane Cooper Admx she required Layfield to pay original debt; Sheriff’s writ returned non est inventus, Court rules for Layfield; orders attachment of Low’s goods; Layfield post bond of £33 for the attachment; security Ephraim Wilson. 83 ~ Lambrook Thomas, Pltf. vs. John Jenner, blacksmith, Deft. for debt of 2500 lbs/tbco; Samuel Worthington, attorney for Thomas, presents Jenner’s account with charge of 2500 lbs/tbco due from 10 May 1695 at Wicomico for construction of a water mill; Sheriff’s writ returned non est inventus, Court rules for Thomas; orders attachment of Jenner’s good; Thomas post bond of 5000 lbs/tbco for the attachment; security Thomas Carey. 84 ~ Ephraim Wilson, Pltf. vs. Samuel Alexander.
