1208 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

Approved April 10th, 1914.

CHAPTER 706.

AN ACT to give Rosa M. Morris, the right of inheritance and
distribution as to the estate of Jefferson Morgan, and make
her his adopted daughter.

WHEREAS, Jefferson Morgan intended to legally adopt Rosa
M. Morris, commonly known as Rosa M. Morgan, whom he
raised from childhood, but inadvertently omitted to do so dur-
ing her minority and she is now of legal age; and

WHEREAS, The existing general laws of this State authorize
only the adoption of minor children, and no provision is made
by them for the adoption of a person of legal age; therefore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Rosa M. Morris, commonly known as Rosa M. Mor-
gan, be and she is hereby declared to be entitled to all rights of
inheritance and distribution as to the estate of Jefferson Mor-
gan, that would belong to her, were she his lawful daughter;
and she shall have full power to take, hold, enjoy, possess and
transmit any and all property of whatsoever kind or descrip-
tion that may descend to, vest in, or be distributed to her, from
him or his estate, in the same manner as if she had been born
the child of the said Jefferson Morgan in lawful wedlock.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 707.

AN ACT to authorize corporations organized under the laws of
the State of Maryland for the purpose of carrying on certain
classes of insurance and surety business to consolidate with
corporations of any other State or Territory organized for the
same general purpose.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That any two corporations, one of which is created and
