constructing curbs and gutters, by ordinance; and all such as-
sessments shall be liens on the abutting property; whether they
be assessments for the construction of footways and sidewalks
or for curbs and gutters, until paid; and said Corporation is
vested with full power to pass all ordinances necessary to carry
this Section into effect, and all ordinances or parts of ordi-
nances heretofore adopted by the Mayor and Aldermen of
Frederick, now in force, and not in conflict with the provisions
of this Act are continued in force, until the same are repealed
or modified.

SEC. 247. Be it enacted. That it shall have power to provide
for apprehending all vagrants, and for committing them to the
Jail of Frederick County, for a term not exceeding ninety days,
and it may provide by ordinance for taking such vagrants and
any other persons committed to Jail for violation of the laws
or ordinances of the Corporation, from the Jail, from day to
day, and compelling them to work at such labor as shall be
required by the Mayor; and it shall be the duty of the Sheriff
to permit such vagrants and offenders committed to the Jail,
to be taken therefrom, and returned thereto, during the time
for which they may be committed, as often as the Mayor shall
direct, and by such person as he shall designate; and the Sheriff
shall not be entitled to charge or receive any other fee than that
which is or may be allowed by law for receiving such vagrants
and offenders into his custody when first apprehended and com-
mitted, nor more than twenty-five cents per day for boarding
such vagrants and offenders.

CHAPTER 10.

AN ACT to repeal Chapter 62 of the Acts of 1910, entitled an
Act to add eleven additional Sections of Article 8, of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title Cecil County, sub-
title Roads, to follow Section 118 of said Article, and to be
designated as follows: Sections 118-A, 118-B, 118-C, 118-D,
118-E, 118-F, 118-G, 118-H, 118-I, 118-J and 118-K, and to
repeal all Acts or parts of Acts of said Article and all other
Acts so far as the same may be inconsistent with the pro-
visions of this Act.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 118-A, 118-B, 118-C, 118-D, 118-E, 118-F,
