payment of the taxes due him as collector afore-
said, as he had when he was first appointed and

taxes may be due him, before he shall proceed to
force the payment of the same ; and provided, that
nothing herein contained shall be construed to ex-
tend the time of payment over any money due
from said Duhamel, as collector of State and
county taxes as aforesaid ; and provided further,
that if required, he shall attach an affidavit, made
before a Justice of the Peace in said county, of the
correctness of the same, and that no part of said
taxes claimed by him has been collected.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the time of its passage.

 

CHAPTER 262.

AN ACT to amend the sixteenth and seven-
teenth sections of the twenty-ninth Article of
the Code qf Public General Laws, relating to
executions on judgments, and substitute the
following in lieu thereof.

Amended.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the sixteenth and seventeenth
sections of the twenty-ninth Article of the Code of
Public General Laws, relating to executions on
judgments, be amended so as to read as follows:

Judgments,
executions, at-
tachments, &c.

16. On all judgments an execution may issue,
at any time within three years after the date of
such judgment, or if there be a stay thereon, at
any time within three years after the expiration
or removal of such stay, where there has been no
change of parties to such judgments, by death or
by marriage, but executions by way of attachment
may issue at any time within twelve years from
the date of said jugdment, and if more than three
