penditure thereof, with the proper vouchers, veri-
fied by affidavits, excepting such part as may be
disbursed out of the Executive Contingent Fund,
upon the order of the Governor, or such further
part thereof as may be paid for or an account of
salaries fixed by the constitution and laws of this
State.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

 

CHAPTER 186.

AN ACT to authorize the County Commissioners
of Howard county to levy a certain sum to be
applied to building an addition to the County
Jail.

SECTION 1 . Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Commissioners of Howard
county, be and they are hereby authorized to levy
in the year eighteen hundred and sixty-two, upon
the taxable property of said county, a sum not ex-
ceeding two thousand dollars, to be applied under
the supervision of said Commissioners, to building
such addition to the County Jail as they may deem
necessary for the health and safe keeping of prison-
ers ; and the provisions of the sixty-first Article
of the Code of Public General Laws, relating to
the Mechanics' Lien, shall not apply to the said
addition, or to the jail itself, on account of said
addition.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted. That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.
