DUNBAR THEATRE
CENTRAL AVENUE, NEAR MONUMENT STREET

The Dunbar Theatre, operated by the
Dunbar Amusement Corporation, with Mr.
Josiah Diggs, President; Dr. James Hilburn,
Secretary and Treasurer, and Mr. Walter
W. Carr, Manager and Vice-President, is a
monument to the industry, untiring energy,
and faith in the people of Baltimore mani-
fest by its president and founder.

Mr. Diggs opened his house, which was
then a much smaller building, with a capa-
city of 350 people, back in 1917, and by the
dint of continual effort and persistency
"carried on" until in November, 1923, he
was compelled to rebuild on the original
site when he enlarged his theatre to a mag-
nificent building, 75x100 feet, with a capac-
ity of 1,000 people, making it the largest
movie house for our people in Maryland.

Besides pictures from such famous studios
as Paramount, Fox, Metro Goldwyn, War-
ner Bros., and First National, the Dunbar
has an unexcelled orchestra led by Carlos
Daugherty.

Visitors in the City should make it
