purpose of carrying on the business of said company; it shall
also have power to build, construct and equip any buildings for
the purpose of sheltering its stock and products, and for the
convenience of carrying on the business of the said company.
SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That the said company shall have
such other and further rights, powers and franchises as may
be convenient and necessary for the efficient exercise of the
powers hereby granted.
SEC. 9. And be it enacted,That the corporate existence of
said company shall be perpetual.
SEC. 10. And be it enacted. That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its pasage.

CHAPTER 248.
AN ACT to amend, enlarge and extend the powers of The Peo-
ples Fire Insurance Company, of Frederick county, Mary-
land, and to change the name of the same.
Whereas, The Peoples Fire Insurance Company, of Frederick
county, Maryland, has been duly incorporated under the gen-
eral laws of the State of Maryland authorizing the formation
of fire insurance companies, according to certificate of in-
corporation duly approved and recorded in Record of Cor-
porations No. 3, folio 13, in the office of the Clerk of the
Circuit Court for Frederick county; and,
Whereas, It is the wish of the board of directors of said cor-
poration that its powers be increased and enlarged, its name
changed and its charter amended.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the charter of The Peoples Fire Insurance Com-
pany, of Frederick county, Maryland, a corporation duly
formed under the provisions of the Code of Public General
Laws of this State, entitled "Corporations," sub-title "Insur-
ance Companies," be and the same is hereby amended as fol-
lows :
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the name of the said corpo-
ration shall be "The Peoples Fire Insurance Company of Mary-
land."
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That said body corporate shall
have authority to insure real and personal property and effects
against loss or damage by fire, lightning, tornado, hail and
windstorms under such rules and regulations as may from time
to time be prescribed by the by-laws of said company or by its.
board of directors.
