LAWS OF MARYLAND.


CHAPTER 532.

AN ACT to refund to S. Merritt Wilkins, of Kent County, in
the State of Maryland, the sum of forty-four dollars and
eighty-two cents, for money paid by him in error for State
taxes for the last twelve years on eighty-nine acres of land
assessed to him, situated in the fourth election district of
Kent County, Maryland, which land was assessed at twenty-
three dollars per acre.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, The said S. Merritt Wilkins has been paying
State tax on eighty-nine acres of land, situated in the fourth
election district of Kent county, Maryland, assessed at twenty-
three dollars per acre, as part of the farm called "New York,"
for the last twelve years, amounting to the sum of forty-four
dollars and eighty-two cents, which error in assessment was
discovered by the survey made by the commissioners appointed
by the Circuit Court for Kent county, sitting in equity, to
divide the real estate of Colonel Edward Wilkins, late of
Kent county, deceased; and

Preamble

WHEREAS, The County Commissioners of Kent county have
ordered a levy to the use of the said S. Merritt Wilkins for
county taxes paid in error as aforesaid, and have recommended
the payment of State taxes so paid in error to the said S.
Merritt Wilkins.

Appropria-
tion.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Treasurer be and he is hereby directed,
upon a warrant of the Comptroller therefor, which he is
authorized to draw, to pay to S. Merritt Wilkins, the sum of
forty-four dollars and eighty-two cents; the same being
money paid by him on eighty-nine acres of land situated in
the fourth election district of Kent county, in the State of
Maryland, and erroneously assessed to him as part of the farm
called "Part of New York."

Effective.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
