32 THIRTY-FIRST ANNUAL REPORT

Mr. Robert Crawford permitted us to make a photostatic copy
of a letter dated 1832 in which George Mackubin, Treasurer of the
Western Shore informs John Schley, Clerk of the Frederick County
Court, that he is sending 100 blank marriage licenses and explains
certain other procedures relating to licenses.

A typed copy of the record of marriage licenses issued in
Montgomery County from 1798 to 1839 was loaned to us for micro-
filming by Mrs. Irvin C. Brown. The index prepared by Mrs. Brown
adds greatly to the value of this item. Through the courtesy of Mrs.
Henry Clay Smith we filmed two volumes containing cemetery inscrip-
tions of Kent and Queen Anne's Counties dating from about 1743
to 1933.

A number of items of genealogical interest were acquired including
Bible records of the Laveille, Rosse, Spriggs and Ward families and
several charts relating to Maryland families.
