DODGE, MISS MARY A.: Dodge Collection, including papers, account books and other
items relating to the Anthony family of Caroline and Talbot Counties. Account
books are for the most part personal records kept by Aaron Anthony (d. 1826)
from 1794 to 1826. Ledger A includes birth records of Aaron's children and of
his negroes, one of whom was Frederick Douglass. A copy of Douglass's book
My Bondage and My Freedom contains marginal comments by Aaron's great
granddaughter. Other items are (1) deeds, surveys and wills relating to land
on the Tuckahoe, 1664-1826; (2) bills of the Anthony family, 1826-1864; (3)
two letters from a nephew of Frederick Douglass to members of the Anthony
family written in 1894. 2 cubic feet. Gift.
GREEN, MISS MARY FARQUHAR: Green Collection, including papers and account
books of the Brooke family of Montgomery County. Papers include surveys and
deeds of Brooke family property, 1733-1923, and family bills, 1815-1908.
