participated until his death. The Archivist continued for a second year
as a member of the Maryland Historical Trust on the appointment of
Governor Tawes.
We were glad to be host this year for the meeting of the Maryland-
Virginia, District of Columbia chapter of the Manuscript Society held
here May 12, 1962. On November 21, 1961, Dr. Radoff addressed the
first general meeting of the Jewish Historical Society of Maryland, and
on June 29, he spoke to the graduates at the closing exercises of the
Sixteenth Institute for the Preservation and Administration of Archives
of American University.
Other members of our professional staff participated more actively
this year in making our work known to other interested groups. Mr.
Frank White acted again as our representative on the Curriculum
Publications Committee of the State Department of Education. He also
addressed the Lanham Study Group on "Prince George's County during
the Civil War," and he twice spoke to Civics classes in Anne Arundel
County on Maryland Government.
Mrs. Phebe Jacobsen attended the Annual Conference of County
Historical Societies of Maryland, and she spoke before the Maryland
Genealogical Society. Mrs. Lois Clark attended the annual meeting of
the American Historical Association and she spoke on "Genealogy and
Public Records of Colonial Maryland" to the Dorset Chapter of the
Daughters of the American Revolution at Cambridge.
At the 25th Annual meeting of the Society of American Archivists
held October 5-7, 1961 at Kansas City, Mr. Skordas delivered a paper
—subsequently published—entitled "Maryland's County Records—The
Eclectic Approach." Mr. Skordas also attended the joint meeting of the
Society of American Archivists and the American Historical Association
held in Washington December 28, 1961. Mr. Skordas served another
year as a member of the State and Local Records Committee of the
S.A.A.
Mr. Beach, Assistant Records Administrator, also attended the
meeting of the Society of American Archivists. He was invited to par-
ticipate in a seminar on state and local records programs at the annual
conference of the Association of Records Executives and Administrators
held in New York City May 7-8, 1962. Mr. Beach also attended the
