The number of visitors for the last three fiscal years is as follows:
Fiscal year 1948............ .............. 995
Fiscal Year 1949....... .................... 1,308
Fiscal Year 1950............... ............ 1,143
Over half of our visitors came from the State of Maryland, the exact
number being 630, the others came from thirty-four States, the District of
Columbia and two foreign countries.
In spite of fewer visitors, the number of items circulated increased
enough to exceed that of any other year with the exception of 1937-1938.
And it should be noted that in the earlier years of our operations the
number of items which had to be handled by visitors was exceedingly large
due to the lack of general indexes.

Documents Circulated Fiscal Year 1950........ 7,244
These totals include microfilm, each reel being listed as one document.
The number of reels circulated increased from 171 the previous year to 548.
In the list of documents here below (only series used as many as twenty
times are given) many of those whose circulation last year and the year
before were zero are microfilm copies of originals in the counties which
were made available for the first time this year.
