On motion of Mr. Gardiner,

The thanks of the Senate were unanimously tendered Presi-
dent Brooke.

Mr. Kimmel moved to adjourn.

The yeas and nays being demanded, appeared as follows:

AFFIRMATIVE.

Messrs. Goldsborough, of Talbot; Lynch,

Goldsborough, of Dor.; Stone—5.
Kimmel,

NEGATIVE.

Messrs. Franklin, Townsend,

Gardiner, Watkins,

Heckart, Whitaker

McKaig, Yellott—8.

So the Senate refused to adjourn.

On motion of Mr. Whitaker,

Resolved, unanimously, by the Senate, That the thanks of this
Body are due, and are hereby tendered to the citizens of Freder-
ick for the kind and hospitable reception extended by them to
this Body, and that in parting with them, (temporarily,) we can-
not refrain from this public expression of our sentiments, and
hereby appoint Hon. A. Kimmel a Committee to promulgate the
above.

On motion of Mr. Lynch,

Ordered, That five thousand copies of the Joint Resolutions in
regard to our Federal Relations, and appointing a Joint Commit-
tee to lay the same before the President of the United States and
the President of the Southern Confederacy, be printed for the
use of the Senate.

Mr. Yellott moved to take up the Resolutions of the House in
regard to the Militia Law.

Mr. Stone moved to lay the motion on the table.
Mr. Goldsborough, of Talbot, moved an adjournment.

Mr. Yellott moved a call of the Senate, when the following
Senators answered to their names :

Messrs. Duvall, Franklin, Gardiner, Heckart, Lynch, McKaig,
Townsend, Watkins, Whitaker, Yellott—10.
