Eighth and Ninth Streets, for the use of the Fire De-
partment and other municipal purposes, provided that be-
fore so doing the fire company now occupying said build-
ing shall contribute at least FIFTEEN HUNDRED
($1500. 00) DOLLARS towards such construction and
shall enter into a contract with the Mayor and City Coun-
cil of Laurel to repay out of its own funds the principal
of any loan made for the purpose of erecting said build-
ing by the said Mayor and City Council of Laurel.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted that the Mayor and
City Council of Laurel be and it is further authorized in its
discretion to borrow not exceeding FIVE THOUSAND
($5000. 00) DOLLARS for the purpose of erecting such
building, to be secured by a mortgage upon said building
which the said Mayor and City Council of Laurel is au-
thorized to execute through its proper officers; provided,
however, that no additional tax shall be levied for the
purpose of paying the interest on said mortgage, but the
interest thereon shall be paid by the Mayor and City
Council out of the levy now authorized of not over TWO
CENTS (2c) for each ONE HUNDRED ($100. 00) DOL-
LARS worth of assessable property; for the equipment
or maintenance of the volunteer fire department.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted that before any such
loan is made or building erected the plans for its con-
struction shall be approved by the Mayor and City Coun-
cil of Laurel, and arrangements shall be made for its
maintenance and for the maintenance of the Fire De-
partment, so that no additional burden shall be put upon
the tax payers of the town but said maintenance shall
be taken care of out of the balance, if any, of the TWO
CENT (2c) tax and the funds of the fire company itself.

AN ACT to authorize and empower the Mayor and Town
Council of Colmar Manor, in Prince George's County,
Maryland, with the approval of the qualified voters of
said Town, to levy and collect annually a special assess-
ment of not to exceed Ten cents on each One hundred
