Prayer by the Rev. Mr. Highley.
Present at roil call the following Senators :

Gorman, Hepbron, Hill, Humphreys, Joyce, Lancaster,
Lee, McLane, Miller, Steiner, Stump, Sulivane, Welfley—22.

Mr. Lancaster presented the memorial of M. A. Watson,
Adeline Brooks and 40 other ladies of Charles County, for a
Local Option Law.

Senate Bill entitled an Act to amend Article 7 of the Dec-
laration of Rights of the Constitution of the State of Mary-
land,

Was read a second time, and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

The Clerk of the House of Delegates appeared and deliv-
ered the following bills:

House bill to authorize the Treasurer to accept script of the
Philadelphia and Reading Railroad Company in payment of
interest due and becoming due on the mortgages of the Sus-
quehanna Canal Company and Tide-water Canal Company,

Which was read the first time, and referred to Committee
on Finance.

Mr. McLane, from Committee on Finance, reported said
bill favorably.

On motion by Mr. McLane.

The rules were supended so as to give a second reading this
day to said bill, by yeas and nays, as follows :
