John Carter   Deft                                                      answer unto Thomas Davis of a Plea of trespass upon

    And where upon the Said Thomas By Peter Dent his Atto^rney Saith (about the sixth)
      that the Said John: the 16^th: day of August in y^e year of o^r Lord 1689 at Animessex
within the Jurisdiction of this Court.  The Said Thomas was posessed of One Servant Woman B
Named Mary Armitage, which Servant the Said John. did intice & from her Said Masters
Service did Carry away, and the Same for a long time hath deteined Contrary to y^e forme of
an Act of Assembly in that Case made & Provided, whereby the sd Thomas of the Service of
the Said Servant hath for a long time been dissapointed  to the damage of the sd Thomas
of fifty thousand pounds of tobacco. and thereof he brings his Suit &ca. ____________
