                                            CHAPTER 112.

An additional supplement to An act, entitled, An act to incorporate the
    trustees of the Franklin academy or school in Baltimore county.

Preamble.     WHEREAS, sundry inhabitants of Reisters-town and its vicinity,
in Baltimore county, have erected, a building for the purpose
of accomodating the Franklin academy, upon a lot of
ground held in trust, for the use of a school, by Philip Reister,
Charles Larsh, Charles McElfresh and Henry Reister, who are
represented to this general assembly, to be willing to convey
said lot and building, for the use of said academy, to a board of
trustees who may and shall be chosen by the contributors to said
edifice and patrons of said academy; Therefore,
Upon certain
contingences,
notice to be
given, election
held for
trustees—
Oath, &c.
    Sec. 1.  Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That as soon as Henry Reister, Charles Larsh, Charles McElfresh
and Philip Reister or a majority of them, shall have executed
a good and sufficient bond to the state of Maryland covenanting,
under a penalty of two thousand dollars, that they
will convey by a good and sufficient deed within two months
from the date of said bond, all their right, title and interest, as
trustees, in and to a lot of ground and the edifice built thereon
for the use of a school, in Reisters-town, unto the trustees of
the Franklin academy who shall be elected under the provisions
of this act, and their successors; and shall have delivered said
bond for record to the clerk of Baltimore county, and shall have
presented a certificate thereof from said clerk, under the seal of
his office, to Philip Reister, Charles Larsh, Charles McElfresh,
Henry Reister and John Sumwalt of said town, they or a majority
of them shall immediately cause printed notices to be stuck up in
twelve public places in said town and its vicinity, to inform the 
contributors to the aforesaid edifice, and the patrons of said
academy, that an election by ballot will be held by them as
judges of the election for the choice of nine persons to be the
trustees of the Franklin academy, between the hours of nine
and twelve, A. M. on that day fortnight, at Peter Storms' Tavern,
in said town in which election, every person who shall have
subscribed and paid or furnished towards building said school
house, in money, labor or materials to the amount of five dollars
shall be permitted to give one vote; or fifteen dollars, two votes,
or thirty five dollars three votes; and every person who shall
have paid for and kept one scholar in said academy for one year
preceeding, and who shall also have entered one scholar therein
for one year ensuing, shall be allowed to give one vote; and the
nine persons who shall receive the greatest number of votes at
such election shall thenceforth be the trustees of the Franklin
academy and as such they shall be returned by the judges aforesaid
to the clerk of Baltimore county, and the Treasurer of
the western shore; and before the judges of the election herein before
mentioned, or a majority of them shall act as such, they shall
severally take and subscribe the following oath or affirmation, I,
