Bond.

            JOSEPH KENT, ESQUIRE, GOVERNOR.

    2.  And be it enacted, That the said commissioners shall give
bond to the state in the penalty of six thousand dollars conditioned
for the faithful appropriation of the said sum of three
thousand dollars, to the purposes for which it was designed by
the original act, to which this is a supplement.

                                            CHAPTER 210.

                    An act supplementary to an act to regulate lotteries.

    Salary and

Proviso.

    Sec. 1.  Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, 
That each of the commissioners of lotteries shall be entitled to
receive a salary of one thousand dollars, payable quarter yearly,
and over and above the said salary, the said commissioners shall
be entitled to receive a percentage upon the nett proceeds of the
state lotteries, so far as the said nett proceeds shall exceed the
sum of thirty thousand dollars, in the year, counting from the
thirtieth day of November, in each year, and beginning from
the thirtieth day of last November, at the rate of five dollars
on every hundred dollars of the said nett proceeds, to be equally
divided between them; Provided however, That the same, including
the salary, as aforesaid, shall not exceed in any one year,
two thousand dollars.

    2.  And be it enacted, That the said commissioners shall be
and they are hereby authorized and required, annually to devise
and determine upon any number of scheme or schemes of lotteries
to be drawn in the city of Baltimore, as experience to them
shall have, or may hereafter prove most conducive to the improvement
of this branch of the public revenue, and to prepare,
sign and dispose of tickets in the said lottery or lotteries, and
they may allow a rate of discount, not exceeding five per
centum upon such tickets from the scheme price of the said
tickets.
    Books of

    3.  And be it enacted, That whenever the said commissioners 
shall have divised and determined upon any scheme or
schemes of lotteries, before proceeding to the sale of any ticket
or tickets, they shall form the same into books of fifty progressive
numbers, and deposit the same as a special deposit in the
branch bank of the United States in the city of Baltimore, or
in some other bank in the said city, to be approved of annually
by the governor and council, which books of tickets shall be
checked for, or withdrawn by orders, signed by the said commissioners
or any two of them, in favor of the person or persons, to
whom the same shall have been sold, with the rate and amount
of the said sale; and the said commissioners shall make a full
and detailed return to the treasurer of the Western Shore of the
said special bank account, at the completion of each and every
final drawing of each and every of the said lotteries, and at the
same time in like manner, shall send therewith the cancelled
checks, in virtue whereof the tickets sold, were withdrawn from
the said bank.
