Which was read the second time, and ordered to be
engrossed for a third reading.

Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal section 7, of
Article 19, of the Code of Public General Laws, title
"Comptroller."

With the following proposed amendments :

AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.

In line 1, of the title, strike out "seven," and in-
sert "eight."

In line 1, section 1. strike out "seven," and insert
"eight."

Strike out figure "7," and insert "8."

Which was adopted.

Said bill, as amended, was read the second time,
and ordered to be engrossed for a third reading.

And, favorably,

House Joint resolution authorizing the Attorney-
General to employ counsel to assist him in the defense
of William Marsh, a citizen of Maryland, now held
by the authorities of Virginia for trial for alleged
violation of the oyster laws of the said State of Vir-
ginia.

With the following proposed amendment:

AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

Strike out all after the word "that," inline 23, and
insert the following: "The Governor be and he is
hereby authorized, if in his judgment he deem it ad-
visable, to direct the Attorney-General of Maryland
to appear and defend William Marshy a citizen of
Maryland, now held by the authorities of "Virginia
for alleged violation of the oyster laws of the State of
Virginia.

Which was adopted.

Said bill, as amended, was read the second time.
