On motion of Mr. Hayman, it was
Ordered, That Mr. Wilkinson be excused from at-
tendance on to-day's'session, on account of important
business.
On motion of Mr. Sappington, of Frederick, it was
Ordered, That Mr. Grove, of Frederick, be excused
from to-day's session, on account of important busi-
ness.
Mr. Donaldson submitted the following order, viz :
Ordered, That the Speaker of the House appoint
Philip D. Geoghan carpenter of the House, he hav-
ing performed that duty since the commencement of
the session, and that his pay date from that date.
Which was read, and referred to the Committee on
Rules.

LEAVES TO INTRODUCE BILLS.
On motion of Mr. Fockler,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Judiciary
to introduce a bill entitled an Act to repeal section
28, of Article 17, of the Code of Public General Laws,
entitled "Clerks of Courts," and to re-enact the same
with amendments.
On motion of Mr. Fitzgerald,
Leave was granted to the Baltimore City Delegation
to introduce a bill entitled an Act to repeal section
657, of Article 4, of the Public Local Laws, title
"City of Baltimore," sub-title "Licenses," and to re-
enact the same with amendments,
On motion of Mr. McSherry,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Corpor-
ations to introduce a bill entitled an Act to repeal
chapter 309, of the Acts of the General Assembly of
Maryland, passed at the January Session, 1886, en-
titled an Act to amend the charter of the Grangers'
Mutual Fire Insurance Company of Frederick county,
and to grant a new charter to said company.
On motion of Mr. Berret,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Ways and
Means to introduce a bill entitled an Act to provide
for the general valuation and assessment of property
in this State.
