CHAPTER 378.


AN ACT to change the name of the "Withers


Mining Company," and to grant additional pow-


ers thereto.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted ty the General Assem-


bly of Maryland, That the name of the "Withers


Mining Company," organized under an act of the


General Assembly of Maryland, passed at December


session of eighteen hundred and forty-seven, chapter
three hundred and six, be and is hereby changed to

the " Thomas Mining Company," and by such name


it shall succeed to all the rights, powers, liabilities


and obligations of said "Withers Mining Company.


SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That said company


shall have power to make assessments on the holders


of its shares of stock for the purpose of raising money


to improve its property, and erect necessary build-
ings, train roads, sidings, machinery and other im-


provements, for the purpose of mining and shipping

amount upon each share, and shall be levied by the


board of directors of said company, and shall be rati-

share of stock, and of the time and place fixed for
