1906, ch. 87, sec. 34.

272. The said Commissioners may, in their discretion, exempt and
-release from assessment or taxation any public improvements, and all
machinery, plant aud property used in manufacturing for a period not
exceeding five years, unless the qualified voters of the town of Goldsboro
shall, at an election when the question of such exemption for a longer
period than five years is submitted to them, cast a majority of votes in
favor of such exemption, for such longer period; provided, however, that
nothing in this section contained shall discriminate against any existing
enterprise in favor of a like enterprise accepting the provisions of thi's
Act.

273. The said Commissioners shall, at least once a year, publish in
some newspaper published in said town, or post in at least four public
places in said town, a full account of moneys received by them for the
year preceding the date of such account and an itemized statement of all
disbursements made by them during the same time; and said account and
statement of receipts and disbursement shall be sworn to by at least one

274. The inhabitants of the town of Greensboro, in Caroline County,

are a body corporate, by the name of the Commissioners of Greensboro,

and by that name may sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded in any

of the courts of this State, and may acquire by purchase, condemn ation

or otherwise, any land or property, or any interest therein, upon which
to erect any market house, lock-up, office or any other building or build-
ings, which in the'judgment of the said Commissioners may be necessary
for the use of the said corporation, and the establishment or enlargement
of parks, squares and gardens, and for opening, extending, widening or
straightening any street, lane or alley in said town; and may hold real,
personal and mixed property, or dispose of the same for the benefit of
said town, in their discretion; and may have and use a common seal

which may be altered by them at pleasure. All property and funds of
every kind belonging to or in possession of the town of Greensboro are
vested in said corporation, and the said corporation may receive in trust
and may control for the purpose of such trust all money or other property
which may have been or shall be bestowed upon such corporation by will,
deed or any other form of gift or conveyance in trust for any general

+Ch. 53, 1929, authorized the town to issue $20,000 of bonds for redeeming out-
standing bonds, sewerage facilities and fire department building and to levy
taxes to pay interest on and to redeem said bonds.
