JOINT RESOLUTIONS.

No. 1.

Requesting the Members of the House of Representatives and
the Senators from Maryland to urge an appropriation for
dredging a channel from Town Point in Herring Bay to the
county wharf in Rockhold, in the Eighth Election District of
Anne Arundel county.

WHEREAS, The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel
County have made arrangements for the building and construc-
tion of a wharf on Rockhold River, in the Eighth Election Dis-
trict of Anne Arundel county; and

WHEREAS, In Herring Bay and Tracers Creek leading to
said wharf there are a number of bars which prohibit vessels
of over three feet draft to go to the said wharf; and

WHEREAS, Unless proper provision is made, the citizens adja-
cent thereto are compelled to drive long distances for the pur-
pose of shipping and receiving their freights; therefore be it

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, ,That the
Members of the House of Representatives in Congress and the
United States Senators from Maryland be and they are hereby
requested to take action looking to the dredging of the several
bars, so as to make the said river and its approaches navigable
by boats drawing ten feet of water; and be it further

Resolved, That a copy of this Joint Resolution be sent to
each one of the members of the House of Representatives and
the Senators in Congress from the State of Maryland.

No. 2.

WHEREAS, The Honorable Louis McK. Griffith, a member of
the Senate of Maryland, died May 12th, 1911; and

WHEREAS, Eor many years he was a distinguished and able
servant of the State; therefore, be it

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That in the
death of Senator Griffith the State has suffered the loss of an
able and devoted official.

As a member of the House of Delegates for several terms and
later as Senator from Calvert county during the Sessions of
1904, 1906, 1908 and 1910, he rendered to the Commonwealth
