The result of this supervision ought to be that at the end of
each fiscal year the reversions of appropriations to the State
Treasury would be much larger than they have been in the
past. Each dollar reverted means a dollar saved. The Comp-
troller, in conjunction with the Governor, who has authority
to approve or disapprove requests of departments and insti-
tutions for amendments of appropriations, would be able to
follow this plan very closely and secure very satisfactory re-
sults from it.

This office is more than anxious to co-operate in every way
possible with all departments of the State which will aid them
and ourselves in the most economical and efficient administra-
tion of the fiscal affairs.

Respectfully submitted,

WILLIAM S. GORDY, JR.,

Comptroller.
