ANNAPOLIS, December 24, 1909.

To the Honorable, ilie General Assembly of Maryland:

In obedience to the requirements of the provisions of Sec-
tion 9 of Article 19 of the Code of Public General Laws, I beg
to submit herewith my annual report for the fiscal year ended
September 30, 1909.

RECEIPTS.

The gross receipts of the Treasury proper during the fiscal
year were $5,400,104.69, an itemized statement of which is
shown in Statement "A," to which must be added the balance
on hand October 1, 1908, of $1,238,652.40, aggregating
$6,638,757.09. .The receipts proper, however, of $5,400,-
104.69, while less in some respects, yet show an increase in the
aggregate over the receipts of the year previous of $886,849.62,
mainly from the following sources, viz: High Liquor Licenses
from Baltimore City, $275,972.09; State Roads Loan, $540,-
780.00; Collateral Inheritance Tax, $146,210.85, aggregating
$9.62,962.94.
